N-e-w J-e-r-s-e-y is another way of spelling tomato.  New Jersey Tomato is not unlike the phrase New York, New York in that it is so nice we say it twice.

My introduction to the New Jersey Tomato came at the wisened hands of one John Boshko, a WWII veteran, survivor of sunken liberty ships, an heirloom himself, who brought his beefsteaks to work, carved out the stem spot, halved and sectioned the rest, sometimes salting them down, always sharing with those at his lunch table.  They were a taste sensation beyond description so I won't try.  He sold them by the road, on the honor system, three pounds for a dollar.  Tomato money sent helped put this great family man's kids through school.  A farmer doesn't always get to enjoy a retirement.  Miss ya John.
